McDonalds 1201 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37203 New Ownership No Longer under Ted Bertuca.
Julia took my order. This is no longer part of the Bertuca Organization. More to follow. Visit at 5:41pm 10/11/2013. Updated: See below my full report.
The service was noticably better – though the employees I dealt with did not wear name tags – that was the first thing I noticed – I was able to ask her name. The food was served hot and without the usual “Bertuca” difficulties – i.e. being out of product, wanting to take a customer credit card out of sight, forgetting what the order was, or arguing over a cup of water.
Julia was very pleasant to deal with and definately a major improvement over previous Bertuca Organization employees.
I spoke to the manager on duty, who seemed indifferent and wasn’t sure how to respond to my feedback that the service was good.
I saw a sign on the door not allowing bags. I am somewhat baffled considering this is a downtown shopping area – so if you go to Lifeway Christian Book store or many of the fine shopping areas between here and 12th Ave South like Urban Outfitters, can you not bring your purchases into McDonalds? Seems a bit unfriendly to tourists who are walking downtown Nashville on foot.
The next area I checked was the Men’s bathroom. I admit this was more out of necessity than an actual inspection of that area. None the less as a downtown bathroom spot, it’s important for the city of Nashville as a whole – the bathroom may be the first impression – as this McDonalds may be – of Nashville. Nashville is getting a lot of press due to the “Nashville TV Show” plus with film crews shooting in Nashville, it’s best foot forward. Both this location and the Music Valley Drive location at Opry Mills serve as our best foot forward as a city to many tourists.
The only thing I noticed of major concern was the men’s room. Two empty toilet paper dispensers, plus 2 rolls out. It shouldn’t take that much work to place the rolls in the dispenser.
I feel strongly with the slow business I saw at the time this should have been addressed. This may be a big stop for down town nashville tourists. There aren’t many bathroom spots. People stop in here to use the bathroom – and also can be converted into customers – if it’s pleasant experience.
Over all this was an improvement over the Bertuca Organizations’s operation but it was over all lower than other fast food experiences downtown such as Arbys on West End Avenue. I look forward to seeing some improvement. My fast food budget for these reviews is about $700/month so I will return to this location in time to see if there is an improvement.
We never reported on an incident this past summer. We went to the location at 810 Rivergate Pkwy, Goodlettsville, TN 37072 back in July of this year. Their credit card processing was down so we could not take our food. This was not our fault. We drove all the way out to Rivergate. But look what Arbys on West End Avenue. did when THEIR credit card processing was down – the manager used her own meal privilege on us – of which we then loyally returned a week later with the cash.
We will be monitoring for changes at the restaurants we’ve had issues with in the past and will continue to report on this topic.
