We found a Roach in our China Buffet food at Mandarin Palace in Knoxville. We put it on a napkin. We asked for our meals to be comp'd but got accusations of lying and a mere 15% discount. They have been cited twice before by the health department, once last year for Roaches.

Simon Malls is trying to revitalize the Knoxville Center – but they could start with the attitudes at the Mandarin Palace Restaurant.  And evict the ROACHES for good!

I brought my daughter here for her 21st Birthday today. There was a baby roach on the cake. I let someone know and they tried to hide it. I told them I wanted the meal comp’ed. They refused. They offered a discount. I let them know I could yell “ROACH”. I came to the counter and they only offered 15%. I asked for more and they refused, claiming I was finishing my meal – not true – I am a 5 plate person. I made it to the 2nd plate and my kid didn’t want to finish our dinner there.

They claimed t was not their fault because they have an exterminator, but the roach was ON the cake stuck, so someone had to have seen it. They also claimed at the last minute i lied. I could have yelled ROACH and shown each table. Cleared the place. They are lucky I didn’t. I’d like a $14 reimbursement for this lousy roach place Sadly that won’t happen. Avoid Mandarin Palace Buffet and Grill unless you like your roaches.

I’m not the only one with issues – two health inspections resulted in warnings, one specifically for roaches last year.

Simon is trying to save this mall but honestly,  seeing this roach today,  and the report last year, lets me know that no matter how many thousands of $ they are pouring into it, it may not be enough.

Can the Stagnating Knoxville Center Mall Be Saved?

Update: 7/11/2014: Simon Malls apologized for the incident and sent a gift card to reimburse for the meals. Simon forwarded our contact info to the Mandarin Palace. There was no response from the Mandarin Palace.  Bottom line: Avoid the Mandarin Palace in Knoxville, TN but kudos to Simon Malls for taking an active role in their mall.
