This notice indicates our package is at a non-existant apartment office. We were turned away from the Post Office for pickup but refused to be turned away. Turns out our package WAS at the Post Office all along. More incompetence.

The saga never truly ends with the Madison, TN Post Office. Getting packages and mail delivered is asking too much for this unit.

The story begins as we ordered some Blu Ray cases from California. We got a notice since we were not home. The notice has two options: ‘item is at Post office  / Available for Pick-Up after (for apartment / complexes with a main office). The box that says ‘Available for Pick-up after Date: 6/30 Time 8:30am. It does not say the item is at the post office. However since this was delivered to a house, we went to the post office on 6/30.

On 6/30/14 I went to the post office and the person at the counter took my card and another card. They told me that my item was at an apartment office and turned me away. I advised them we live in a HOUSE and there IS NO OFFICE so she gave the other customer their card back and said they’d check but it shouldn’t be there and acted very frustrated with me.

To her surprise (but not mine) the box WAS there. She threw away the slip. I advised her he had issues w/the mail, that this came as no surprise. She just ignored that. But when I said that I’ve been in contact w/the Postmaster and the Consumer Affairs dept, she promptly picked the card out of the trash and said she’d follow up w/the carrier.

I got a call less than an hour later from the Post Master. Curiously he said he never spoke to us before, which is either a lie or someone was impersonating him. He advised us the carrier filled out the form wrong and we should have never been turned away.

If we had been turned away, i.e. I had actually taken the postal employee at their word that the package was in our non-existent apartment office, it would have been a waste of gas, time and energy. Something this Post Office excels in.
