Demos makes you pay for food you never receive and then still insists on full payment! Avoid!
After a several year absence, I went back to Demos in Hendersonville, TN today. The waitress advised me that my meal came with a salad so I ordered one with Caeser. She came back and stated they didn’t have a Caesar dressing so I asked for oil and vinegar.
When the main entree came I asked for my salad again. It did not come. Mid meal I asked for it again. It did not come.
When the bill came I reminded her that the salad didn’t come and asked for an adjustment on my bill. I did not ask ask for a comp but asked for an adjustment.
She said the salad was ‘included’ so they could not do an adjustment but I advised her it was part of the meal and therefore has a cost (if not a price) and she still refused.|
I will not return to Demos. I was VERY disappointed.
Why I was asked to pay for a salad I never received? I asked her the same question and there was no answer.
I told her I would go ahead and pay but I would not come back.
The manager did not even make an appearance at the table.
Ron: After you emailed me about the situation where you explained you were in a “a high level business meeting” where you told me,”the client stated ‘I am learning new things about you’. That does not bode well for me and this incident may have cost me thousands in revenue from the client; I can’t quantify that but it is one of many possibilities.”
I immediately reacted. I had told you that the server was brand new and did not talk to a manager, but the rest happened and we would take care of it.
For your lack of salad, we offered you a dessert which you refused for dietary reasons. Therefore, we mailed you a check for the full amount for your meal resulting in a free meal for you, an apology, a voucher worth $20, and you got a brand new girl disciplined.
We would have been happy to buy the full table, but it appears that you did not buy your high level client’s meal, so we do not include the amount for that nor do we know who to contact to apologize for that as well.
Since you threatened, “The review is on Google, which can affect search engine results, customer decisions, etc and the review also appears on this review site and may appear syndicated on other platforms.” then I am asking you to remove the factual inaccuracies and include the other facts as well.
Thank you

This is not a threat. It’s a statement of fact given how the Google algorithms work. Reviews from Google and other websites can also be syndicated and appear on other platforms. Being placated after the fact doesn’t change the actual incident. The check had already been calculated and the amount asked to be rendered. But going back to the main point, it’s not a threat, it’s simply how the algorithm works and how Google is also beginning to pull reviews from other platforms, that’s why you can see the same review for a product or business across multiple platforms. It’s part of the reputation management industry that has documented how this all works. It’s not a threat, it’s simply how these and other algorithms work. It is not a threat, it is a statement of fact. You can check with any reputation management company.
For your request I did note that your investigation revealed the server may not have checked with anyone; the rest is factual based on what happened. What happened after the check was presented, twice, isn’t relevant in my estimation, i.e. being offered a dessert, that’s more placation. The adjustment to pay only for goods and services received was what I was after. Being requested to only pay for goods and services rendered at the time was what I was after.
Nowhere in my emails does it indicate you telling me the server was brand new.
And you are correct, it was a split check. We did make a correction regarding the server checking with the manager. Please let us know any other corrections you feel need to be made and we will evaluate.
